12 Hot Rod for Graphite Hot Rods have always been the best method for breaking the epoxy bond and removing a steel shaft fully intact -- especially from clubhead materials that should not receive direct heat. Now, the same procedure can be used on most all graphite shafts with Golfsmith s small-diameter heating rods for graphite shafts. Used with care, these graphite shaft heating rods can be used by themselves or as supplemental heating with light external heating from a heat gun or MicroTorch. Caution: Do not heat rods to a red hot temperature or use as a ram rod to hammer iron heads from the shaft.
